We are excited to share the news that Mint and renowned music association Fylkingen are becoming neighbours, forming a new cultural centre in Stockholm.
In the spring of 2026, a major renovation of the basement level in the Swedish Workers’ Educational Association (ABF) building will begin. This will provide a permanent exhibition space for Mint, as well as a new music venue and bar for Fylkingen’s activities.
For Mint, this marks a new chapter with enhanced capacity for its own exhibition activities and exchanges between the experimental art and music scenes. During the renovation period, Mint will arrange exhibitions and programs at other venues, in Sweden and internationally.
Mint and Fylkingen’s new venues will be inaugurated autumn 2026.
Mint has been situated in the Workers’ Educational Association building since 2019, showcasing Swedish and international contemporary art in exhibitions and on stage. Since its inception, the program has drawn inspiration from the period in the 1960s when the Electronic Music Studio, the Swedish Fluxus movement as well as the legendary jazz club the Golden Circle took up residence at Sveavägen 41. With Fylkingen’s arrival, the ambition to activate this legacy takes on a concrete form.
Fylkingen is an artist-run, non-profit association for experimental music and art. It was founded in 1933, making it one of the world’s oldest forums of its kind. Fylkingen was previously located on Östgötagatan (1971–1986) and Münchenbryggeriet (1987–2023) in central Stockholm, and currently operates from a temporary venue in the southern suburb of Bredäng.
The renovation is being financed by AB ABF Huset, and the project has received SEK 2.5 million in start-up support from the City of Stockholm. The new venue is designed by the architectural firm Campus.
